NORFOLK, Va. (AP) — A sheriff claims the failure of Virginia deputies to observe normal procedures and methods did not bring about the loss of life of a teenager who killed himself in a court constructing.
Norfolk Sheriff’s Workplace spokeswoman Karen Pinkston tells The Virginian-Pilot an inside investigation into 17-12 months-aged Katrell Jaymar Washington’s loss of life observed deputies failed to observe necessary techniques but failed to influence Washington.
Pinkston claims the deputies were disciplined Friday, but wouldn’t specify those associated or the punishments confronted.
Washington was observed unconscious in a keeping mobile at the Norfolk Circuit Courtroom constructing previous November where by he experienced been awaiting a hearing on expenses associated to threatening a large school instructor and stabbing two students who tried out to safeguard her.
Washington’s mom, Lisa Washington, has requested why he was left alone looking at his record of suicide makes an attempt.
